This reading and writing informational text resource is perfect for having students read passages, learn to find and cite text evidence, find the main idea, and summarize informational text while they are going back to school. This resource has been used to help cite text evidence for FSA Writing and has proven to benefit student success. It can also be used to just have students underline specific text evidence if your students do not need to cite it but they need to find evidence in a text. The overall text complexity for 4th and 5th grade is lower so you can focus on teaching how to cite text evidence with this resource. The text would also be appropriate for 3rd graders to find text evidence.
*Bonus weekly lesson plans, activities, graphic organizers, and anchor charts have been added to the original resource to cover a variety of standards with one passage on an engaging topic. Students need multiple opportunities to work with informational text so these monthly themed passages and activities are super beneficial in helping them master the standards!
